Woman killed while changing tire on I-75

Drivers who travel on Georgia's roads and highways know just how unpredictable conditions can be. From day to day, the weather can change from sunny and clear to stormy and dark. Roads that were debris free may become speckled with hazards if accidents occur on them. Traffic can vary based on the time of day, day of the week, and a variety of other factors.

No matter what types of conditions drivers face, though, they must be prepared to respond to dangers that may present themselves. Being prepared requires drivers to use responsible driving practices and to operate their vehicles in distraction-free environments so that they may protect their lives and the lives of others on the roads. When they fail to note their surroundings and allow their attention to be taken off of driving, tragedies can occur.

Just recently, a horrific incident happened on one of the state's busiest highways. A pick-up truck experienced a flat tire on Interstate 75 and the four occupants got out of the vehicle. While changing the tire, the four individuals were struck by another car that was traveling down the interstate. All four individuals suffered harm in the crash, and one woman lost her life in the car accident.

Investigators assigned to the matter have not determined why the collision occurred, though they know that the vehicle that hit the victims was operated by a 22-year-old man. Neither he nor his passenger was hurt in the incident.

The injured victims and the family of the deceased victim may wish to understand their legal rights in the wake of this tragedy. Those who have questions about compensation for car accidents may wish to consider guidance on how to pursue any legal recourse they may have.
