One killed in two-car crash in Georgia

When automobile collisions occur, an investigation is initiated. This process helps determine why the accident happened. By looking at the factors that contributed to the crash, authorities seek to establish what caused the crash and what role any of the parties involved played. When negligence is clearly a factor, this could help victims of the crash or the loved ones of a deceased victim fully understand what rights and legal recourses they might have.

According to recent reports, a fatal two-vehicle crash occurred in Lowndes County. Authorities in Georgia responded to the crash, where they pronounced a 40-year-old man dead at the scene of the crash. The state patrol reported that the accident occurred at the intersection of Loch Laurel Road and Carroll Ulmer Road during the afternoon hours.

The initial investigation suggests that the driver of a Chrysler 200 was traveling east on Carroll Ulmer Road when the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. This caused the vehicle to enter the intersection with Lock Laurel Road, colliding with a vehicle traveling north on Loch Laurel Road.

The driver of the vehicle that was struck died following the crash, while the driver of the Chrysler suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Officers do not believe that alcohol was a factor and they reported that the driver of the vehicle that was struck was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Following a fatal crash, it is important to understand the cause of the crash. This not only helps to establish cause and liability, but it could also assist with a civil action. A victim or the loved ones of a deceased victim could file a personal injury or wrongful death action, helping them attempt to recover compensation for losses and damages suffered because of the accident.
