4 driving behaviors that can cause a wreck

Almost every day that you drive through Bremen on your way to work, you take the same route, stop at the same cafe for your morning coffee and generally share the road with the same traffic. Unfortunately, any one of those other drivers could be behaving in a way that puts you in danger.

There are various ways that drivers can make the road hazardous for other people. The follow are a few examples of dangerous driving habits that might lead to a wreck.

Driving under the influence

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimates that the majority of traffic fatalities occur because a driver got behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A drunk driver has impaired judgement and slower reaction times which is what makes them so dangerous.

Sleep deprivation

Have you ever been on a long road trip and felt yourself dozing off while driving down the open highway? Unfortunately, drivers who fall asleep behind the wheel can very easily cause an accident that might be fatal to themselves and other people on the road. Not only is an appropriate amount of sleep necessary for even short drives, but frequent rest stops are important in order to make it through the long hauls.

Speed limits exist for a reason. Perhaps an area is only 35 miles per hour because of heavier traffic conditions, maybe it is because a school is close by or perhaps the road has some dangerous curves that require a slower speed. When drivers violate the speed limits, it can often lead to severe accidents.

Distracted driving

Any kind of distracted driving, whether it is texting, talking on the phone or trying to put away a quick breakfast on the way to work, can result in a tragic car accident. In reality, distracted driving is just as dangerous as drunk driving because the driver's attention is not on the road and reaction times are often delayed.

Even though you may not engage in these behaviors, other drivers do. If you suffer an injury due to a car crash with a negligent driver, you might be able to take legal action for the damages.
