Principled Lawyers Seeking Justice For The Injured And Disabled

Months after car crash, injured officer still recovering

Any time a Bremen resident survives a serious car crash, they are bound to feel fortunate. However, some are left with injuries after a car accident that can take months or even years to heal; some may be left with permanent disabilities from which they never fully recover.

Back in mid-November, an officer was struck in his patrol car by a drunk driver. The driver's license had been revoked due to numerous prior offenses. The officer describes looking at his radar one minute and noticing a red flash indicating an approaching object; the next thing he knew, he was in an ambulance with a broken hip and four broken ribs.

Today, months after the accident, the injured officer has multiple metal rod implants and is still unable to return to work. He had another surgery scheduled for the first week of January. He describes his shock at seeing the damage to his vehicle in photos of the accident, wondering how he survived. He also describes the difficulties his family struggle with, particularly his 2-year-old boy who "doesn't understand why daddy isn't getting any better."

While many accident victims can truly count themselves lucky to be alive, there may still be a long road ahead of them in dealing with injuries. Medical costs can pile up, especially when one cannot work for an extended period of time. A personal injury professional can help stand up for the rights of injured victims and their families by pursuing compensation from a reckless driver for lost wages, pain and suffering, costs associated with medical care and other losses.
